Yikes, almost 1 year without any updates!

Well, as some of you might have noticed, we've been puttering away on some smaller features, but most of that is transparent to normal visitors. Things like revising the search and torrentHound rating so that it gives more accurate results. Optimizing the database and cleaning things up so the site runs smoother. Since early December we've been doing quite a bit to make the site faster and more available. When pages load slowly, a report is generated with the time and which page that loaded slowly and refunds are issued for the 8 second of your life we wasted.

The unified categories have been created and torrents have been sorted, the first implementation will be on the search page, where visitors will be able to show only results in Videos or Music for example.

As to all the messages we've been getting about people wanting to be moderators... we appreciate the sentiment, but we do our best to keep things automated, as all of the site currently is. We've also been getting alot of requests to allow user uploads of torrents, however we have noticed that almost all of the torrents that were uploaded during a test period were fakes (shame on you, spammers). If you want your torrent on torrentHound, you can add it to pretty much any other (edit: public) torrent site that accepts uploads and we will hoover it up within a few hours.

Keep the feedback coming! It's always great to read thank-you's and of course the few insults we get every once in a while usually get a chuckle too (and occasionally an equally constructive reply).

Appologies to everyone who experienced the rather frequent downtime in the last couple months, issues of the material world have been occupying my time lately.

Don't fret though, as now we have a new database server and an improved search engine to help keep loads reasonable with 200,000+ searches per day. Enjoy the new, more responsive (and available) backend.

Some new features are in the works and will be rolled out shortly (features like unified categories and better fake detection!)

Thanks go out to the members that were patient enough to wait until the downtime issue was solved, you may now look to torrenthound to be your quickest source to find and download torrents. (If not, hey, the feedback button works ALL THE TIME now).

Lots of backend changes to deal with all the torrents we now have and the traffic on the site! Appologies to our members who experienced some downtime during the updates. Lots of emails!

On the positive side, the site should be much quicker and we can now handle more traffic and more torrents so I hope it was worth it!

Keep the feedback coming!

Wow, lots of feedback!! Keep it coming!
The torrentHound rating (thr%) has been revamped to be much more accurate -- chances are if a torrent is over 70% its good.
We've been getting alot of visitors from hopefully you guys find it to be a reliable, fast and ad-free source to get your fix. We're also working on getting listed with to bring even more traffic to the site.
A new search algorithm was put in place earlier last week which improves the relevancy of searches and we're still working on some additional features like "did you mean" and the likes. Also related to searches will be related torrents on the torrent page.
We lost quite a few torrents (120,000 live torrents ;( ) with a program fluke which thought they were garbage and successfully took out the trash. We're working on getting them back but the bright side is we've fixed it and now we have more torrents than before!
Enjoy the site and keep the suggestions coming via our feedback form. All questions are answered unless they're requests for advertising... (shame on you guys!).

Quite a few updates today.
Garbage collection is done, no more old dead torrents taking up space.
The menu uptop ^ is working now and the various generic pages have been created.
torrentHound rating is in early alpha stages however is looking very promising in terms of filtering out crap (which there is quite a bit of!).

Well the commenting and reporting is up and running, test it out if you find something worth commenting on or worth reporting ;)
The adult content filter is already on its way, I'm working out the last of the twisties and it should be ready some time this week!
I've already implemented some of your suggestions (the xxx mins/hours/days ago on the search pages) and as always, you're welcome to send your own feedback/suggestions to tweak [at] hush [dot] com !

The search function has been greatly improved to return much more relevant results, already we're noticing an increase in traffic -> download ratio, meaning people are finding what they're looking for!
Hopefully the commenting and reporting features as well as the torrentHound rating will be up later this week, followed by the adult content filter next week to keep things both work and family safe.
Any feedback or suggestions can be sent to us via the contact form !

The site is still in beta testing, anybody using it shouldn't expect everything to work properly.
Any complaints received will be forwarded to our customer support department (> /dev/nul ) to be dealt with quickly.
